History

At Point Source this is our fifteenth year in business. For such a young company we’ve quickly become an established world leader in our field. Here are some of the company highlights;

1991		Point Source is founded and launches singlemode fiber beam delivery systems for scientific and industrial applications
1995		Point Source launches a range of fiber-coupled laser diode modules.
1999		NASA commissions 80 Point Source fiber-coupled lasers to examine protein crystal growth in microgravity conditions on space shuttle mission STS-95
2000		Point Source develops the worlds first commercial high power single mode fiber beam delivery system to deliver 2 Watts laser power at 532nm for ESO’s laser guide star project.
2000		Point Source moves to a brand new 100,000 sq ft facility
2001		Point Source develops the world’s first commercial single mode fiber systems compatible with Ultra-High Vacuum for Extreme UV Lithography.
2002		Point Source launches the world’s first fiber-coupled laser for the 405nm laser diode.
2002		Point Source incorporates in the USA
2003		Point Source wins the Photonics Spectra Circle of Excellence award for the iFLEX2000 fiber coupled 405nm laser diode.
2003		Point Source wins two Queens Awards for international trade and innovation.
2004		Point Source develops the first commercially available ‘Laser Engine’
2006		Point Source opens an office in Singapore to service the Asia/Pacific market
2006		Point Source sales to the USA reach 50% of turnover.
